The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison Troops in Hong Kong sent a letter Tuesday to all Hong Kong citizens to express their Spring Festival greetings and best wishes, with the coming of Spring Festival starting from Feb. 9.
The letter, signed by Commander Wang Jitang and Political Commissar Liu Liangkai of the PLA Garrison Troops in Hong Kong, said 2004 is the seventh year of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and of the troop's stationing in Hong Kong.
The letter said the officers and men of the troops highly appreciated and congratulated Hong Kong's achievements in economic, cultural and other fields.
It said that in the past year the garrison troops earnestly implemented the Basic Law and related laws and successfully completed their defense tasks in Hong Kong. They arranged the opening of the barracks to the public and a military parade on Aug.1.
The troops expressed their hearty thanks to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, citizens and all social sectors for the full support to their work.
The PLA Garrison Troops in Hong Kong pledged to work with all Hong Kong citizens to do their duty and make new contributions to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.
