China hopes to push forward the relationship with Singapore in a healthy and stable way on the bases of mutual respect, equality, and reciprocity, said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing on February 2.

Wen made the remarks during a meeting with Singaporean Foreign Minister George Yong-Boon Yeo. He gave a positive appraisal for Sino-Singaporean relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties.

George Yong-Boon Yeo said China's development is in the interest of all Southeast Asian nations including Singapore.

He noted Singapore supports China's efforts to safeguard its unification.
