Senior CPC official visits veteran artists
font size

Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee, visited some veteran artists on Friday, sending them Chinese Lunar New Year greetings on behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Li said that in culture and art sectors, some relationships should be correctly positioned. Cultural undertakings for social benefits and profit-oriented operations should be given equal emphasis. Cultural undertakings should enhance the nation's fine culture and in the meantime take in advanced foreign culture.

Technological progress should be better used to make artistic works more appealing to the public, he said.

To improve socialist culture undertakings is also an important part of raising the administrative capacity of the ruling Party and implementing the scientific concept of development, Li said.
