font size

Police forces in Beijing should strengthen their capability to prevent crimes and persecute offenders, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said in Beijing Friday.

Luo Gan, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Committee of Political Science and Law under CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while visiting local police before the Chinese Lunar New Year which falls on Feb. 9 this year.

Luo visited a neighborhood police station, a special police squad, an urban traffic control center and the home of a police who had died on duty.

During the visits, Luo said that there are still many factors affecting social stability and that public security situation remains severe. The task to safeguard the stability of the capital is heavy.

He called on the police forces to raise their competence and ensure better law-enforcement, and to create a good environment for the country's economic development and reform.
