Abbas to meet Rice on Monday: Palestinian official

One Palestinian official said Saturday that Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas will meet Monday morning with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Palestinian National Authority spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that Abbas will discuss with Rice a four-way summit at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh due on Feb. 8.

Abbas, together with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordanian King Abdullah II, will attend the summit.

Rice's visit to the Palestinian lands is aims at reactivating the stalled Mideast peace process.
