9 Japanese die in suspected group suicide

Japanese police have confirmed the deaths of nine people in two suspected group suicide cases on Saturday.

All the nine bodies were found in cars and the people are believed to have committed suicide by inhaling carbon monoxide.

Group suicide cases are raising concern, as a growing phenomenon in Japan and carbon monoxide poisoning is a common method of death.

A recent government survey shows that more than 32, 000 Japanese committed suicide in 2003, exceeding 30,000 for the sixth straight year.
