font size

More than 50 overseas cruise liners will visit Shanghai this year, with the luxury cruise ship "Totae" from Hong Kong arriving here on Feb. 6, according to the Shanghai government.

The ships, carrying tourists from around the world, will come mainly from Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Hong Kong, and will stay two to three days at Shanghai ports.

About 25,000 tourists came to Shanghai by more than 50 luxury cruise ships in 2004, said a staff with the government, noting that an international passenger transportation center is under construction, and will be completed in the first half of 2007.

Three berths will be built for luxury cruise liners, with a designed annual handling capability of 1 million passengers.
