Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas will meet Saturday evening with representatives of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Islamic Jihad (Holy War) to brief them the results of the Sharm el-Sheikh summit held Tuesday, said Palestinian official sources.
Abbas, who arrived in Gaza city Friday, intends to stay several days aiming to continue his talks with the Palestinian factions and militant groups as well as the security chiefs, expecting to persuade them to agree a mutual ceasefire with Israel, official sources close to Abbas said.
The sources added that Abbas will meet Hamas and Jihad leaders Saturday evening and other national factions later Sunday.
Palestinian cabinet secretary Hassan Abu Lebda told reporters that Abbas and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) will not accept any violation of the ceasefire declared at Sharm El-Sheikh summit.
"There's a big responsibility for the factions in this critical and historical period, and I believe that everyone seeks to achieve the highest benefits of the Palestinian people," Abu Lebda said.
