Hong Kong Financial Secretary Henry Tang said Wednesday that Hong Kong's economy has been on track of a full recovery.
He made the remarks in New Year greetings at a local radio program. Tang said, during the Lunar New Year period, Hong Kong witnessed a brisk market and the public is happy about that.
He said in the past year, Hong Kong underwent a relatively comprehensive economic recovery thanks to the support of the Chinese central government and efforts made by Hong Kong people.
However, he is cautiously optimistic about Hong Kong's economic prospect as Hong Kong still faces the challenges of an economic reconstruction, a rather high unemployment rate in some sectors and the to-be-improved financial structure of the government.
The financial chief urged government officials and employees at various sectors to learn more knowledge and to be innovative in their career so as to face the challenges in the future.
He believed that with the common efforts of all citizens, Hong Kong will sure utilize every possible chance to advance its economic development.
