Kyrgyzstan's Foreign Minister Askar Aitmatov said on Wednesday that Kyrgyzstan will further strengthen military and military technological cooperation with other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
According to reports reaching here from Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, Aitmatov said such cooperation is one of the main tasks in Kyrgyzstan's foreign affairs.
As a member of the CIS Collective Security Pact Organization, Aitmatov said, Kyrgyzstan should first improve cooperation within the framework of the organization.
He said Kyrgyzstan will speed up implementation of agreements reached with other CIS members in 2005.
Bishkek also attaches importance to the cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Aitmatov said.
He stressed that cooperation with members of both organizations is an important guarantee to Kyrgyzstan's security.
The CIS Collective Security Pact Organization, founded in May 2002, groups Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The SCO, founded in June 2001, comprises China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which aim to jointly combat regional security threats.
