China recognizes 153 famous trademarks
font size

China's General Administration of Industry and Commerce says it recognized 153 famous trademarks in 2004 and one fifth of them are of foreign origin.

These famous trademarks are those which provide goods or services with a high reputation and enjoy wide popularity among Chinese consumers. They can now enjoy more comprehensive legal protection.

Copyholders of commercial brands can submit their applications to the relevant institutions to be verified as famous trademarks.

Experts say recognizing foreign brands as famous trademarks in China will further improve conditions for international investment and strengthen investor confidence about doing business in the country.
