Special Envoy for the Chinese government and Vice Foreign Minister Lu Guozeng visited Khartoum on Saturday for talks with Sudanese President Omar el-Bashir.

During their meeting, the two sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations and the situation in the western Sudanese region of Darfur as well as other issues of common interests.

They expressed satisfaction on the positive development of the Sudanese-Chinese relations, hoping more enhancement and deepness of cooperation would be achieved in all fields.

The Chinese envoy congratulated the Sudanese government on the recent signature of a comprehensive peace agreement with the south in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

The Chinese official voiced concerns of the Chinese government on the Darfur issue, urging all sides concerned to exert more efforts to solve it as soon as possible.

The Sudanese president expressed appreciation for the efforts by China to solve the Darfur issue, reiterating the government's commitment to find a political solution to it.
