About 100 journalists from 12 national newspapers and other media left Beijing Friday to travel throughout the country to report how various localities implement the government's scientific concept of development aimed at sustainable development.

The reporters will cover social progress and economic development in the eastern region, the most economically developed part of the country; the central provinces, which are trying to catch up with the eastern riches; the northeastern region that is trying to regain its past glory as an industrial base; and the western areas which are fighting poverty with the assistance of the central government and other parts of the country.
