The Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), or Chinese top legislature, Monday passed a decision on expert witness management to ensure expert witnesses independent and impartial.

China's expert witnesses, who are currently employed by judicial or other public departments, will soon be independent civil agents, according to the decision.

The draft decision was submitted to the 9th NPC Standing Committee for the first deliberation and to the ongoing session from Feb. 25 to 28 for the second deliberation.
