Vanuatuan Prime Minister Ham Lini arrived in Haikou, on the island province Hainan, Monday evening, continuing his official China tour aimed at strengthening Sino-Vanuatuan relations.

During his stay in China's central province Henan, Lini a number of cities such as Zhengzhou, Luoyang, and Kaifeng. He also visited local enterprises specializing in farming, stock breeding and food processing.

He said he hoped the relevant Chinese enterprises would invest in Vanuatu. He particularly mentioned that Chinese experts now are helping Vanuatu to build up a biogas project and the Vanuatuan people will soon benefit from the project.

Lini was impressed by China's long history and its historical heritage. He said he has learned a lot through the visit and he hoped the two countries would further cooperation in the future.

Lini began his China tour in Beijing on Feb. 24. There he met with Chinese President Hu Jintao and held talks with Premier Wen Jiabao.

Wen and Lini signed a joint statement, saying that Vanuatu reiterates its commitment to the one-China policy, and "reaffirms its opposition to any attempt to create 'two Chinas' or 'one China, one Taiwan,' 'Taiwanese independence' or Taiwan's membership in international and regional organizations where statehood is required."

Vanuatu is an island country in the Pacific Ocean. It established diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China in 1982. Lini was elected Prime Minister of Vanuatu in December 2004. He is expected to wrap up his China tour on March 4.
