China's transport, telecom's added-value up 14.9 percent 2004

The added-value of China's transport and telecom reached 777.7 billion yuan in 2004, up 14.9 percent than 2003, according to a report of the National Statistics Bureau released Monday.

The report said the turnover of transported goods reached 6.67 trillion tons per kilometer, rising 23.8 percent over 2003. The turnover of passengers in transport was 1.63 trillion per kilometer, up 18.2 percent over 2003.

The goods throughput of all ports was 4 billion tons, up 21.3 percent. Among the total, goods for foreign trade was 1.15 billion tons, rising 18.4 percent than 2003.

Vehicles for civil use reached 27.42 million, up 15.0, the report said.

The telecom business volume in 2005 reached 979.1 billion yuan, up 34.9 percent.
