China found 539 HIV positive cases in border checkup in 2004

China detected 539 HIV positive cases from cross-border travelers in 2004, according to a report released by the state quality watchdog at a press conference Tuesday.

China conducted regular surveillance and physical examinations for 2.07 million cross-border travelers. It also carried out more than 1 million AIDS surveillance checkups and found 539 HIV positive cases, said the report from the State Administration for Quality Supervision and Inspection and Quarantine.
