Top science academy publishes annual scientific, social reports

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) published lately the annual reports on scientific advancement,high technologies and China's sustained development.

This aimed to tell the public and lawmakers the latest scientific and technological development both in China and the rest of the world, according to CAS officials.

Deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and members ofthe Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) usually receive a series of such kind of reports during their annual sessions in Beijing.

Report on Scientific Development summarizes latest research development throughout the world, including achievements made by 2004 Nobel Prize winners in natural sciences. The report also introduces some breakthroughs made by Chinese scientists in 2004.

Report on High Technological Development focuses on life sciences and bio-engineering. It also gives some advice on strategic planning of the state in the field.

Report on China's Sustained Development discusses policies and strategies on sustained development both in cities and rural areas.
