Value of HK's total exports up 34.8 pct in JanuaryThe value of Hong Kong's total exports of goods surged 34.8 percent in January, over the same month last year, to 182.4 billion Hong Kong dollars (23.38 billion US dollars), the Hong Kong government said Monday. Within this total, the value of re-exports rose 35.9 percent to 172.7 billion Hong Kong dollars (22.14 billion US dollars), while the value of domestic exports rose 18 percent to 9.7 billion Hong Kong dollars (1.24 billion US dollars), according to the government's Census & Statistics Department. In the same period, the value of imports of goods soared 37.2 percent over a year earlier to 184.5 billion Hong Kong dollars (23.65 billion US dollars), the department said. A visible trade deficit of 2 billion Hong Kong dollars (256.4 million US dollars), equivalent to 1.1 percent of the value of goods imports, was recorded in January, it said. |
