    Cojoined babies come to Shanghai for surgery

    The mother of conjoined twins carries her children from Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui Province, to Shanghai for possible separation surgery yesterday. The babies were born on December 18. Local doctors say it will be extremely difficult to separate the twins because many organs are joined together. (China Daily)

    Haier opens factory in Amman

    Zhang Ruimin (R1), CEO of the Haier Group of China spoke at the inaugural ceremony for its new factory in Amman, Capital of Jordan on March 1st, 2005. Haier Group's factory in Jordan, the Haier Mideast Appliance Co., Ltd put into production that day.

    Rice urges Palestine to reform security institutions

    US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice hold talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in London March 1st, 2005. Rice urged the Palestinian Authority to reform its security institutions during the talk. She said the US and international community will give assistance to Palestine.

    Handicapped Art Troupe enjoys fame in Paris

    Marie-Anne Monchamp (L), French Secretary of State for Handicapped Persons posed for a photo with Tai Lihua, a dancer with the Handicapped Art Troupe of China at the Exhibition on the Achievements of Handicapped people around world and award presentation ceremony held in Paris March 1. The Handicapped Art Troupe of China performed the dance "Thousand-hand Bodhisattva" at the party.

    Liu Xiang wins titel of "best male athlete" of Asiand INdoor Athletics Open

    Liu Xiang (2nd, L), champion of the men's 110m hurdles in the Athens Olympic Games, holds his award as the best male athlete during the Asian Indoor Athletics Open held in north China's port city of Tianjin, March 1, 2005. Liu Xiang won the 60m hurdles final with 7.50 seconds on Tuesday.
