CPPCC chairman meets winners of national forestry prize

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with the winners of the second national "prize for contribution to forestry," Tuesday.

In the meeting, Jia, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, called for fully recognizing the importance of forestry and making new contribution to building up a harmonious socialist society in the country.

He thanked those awarded for their contribution to the development of forestry in China. He said the acceleration of the development of forestry and ecology is a fundamental way for human beings to achieve a harmony with the nature.

The ten people who were awarded the prize include Wang Wuyi, Guan Ke, Guan Haiying, Shen Wei, Sun Ge, Zhao Longkou, Jia Yuxia, Yang Dan, Peng Jun, and Cai Xiaolin. Thirty institutions received the organization prize at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, 346 journalistic works, 75 artistic works, 33 other individuals and 24 publications also receive prizes of different titles.

Vice Chairmen of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Zhongyu, Zhang Siqing and Li Meng were also present in the meeting.

The annual awarding event began in 1999 and is sponsored by six governmental and non-governmental institutions.
