Cheng Siwei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, met in Beijing Tuesday with a Paraguayan delegation led by President of the Paraguay-China Friendship Association (PCFA) Diogenes Martinez.

Cheng expressed the hope that the two countries will conduct more non-governmental exchanges in a bid to promote bilateral non-governmental relations. He also briefed the visitors on the Chinese government's principled stand on Taiwan issue.

Martinez said PCFA will make greater contributions to further promoting the friendship between the two peoples.

The delegation is here at the invitation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
