font size

A special train carrying 100 international standard containers began its first journey from Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Region, to Frankfurt in Germany, Monday.

Before arriving at its destination, the train will travel 9,814 km for 18 days through six countries.

With an annual freight capacity of 2,500 containers of some 50,000 tons, the transnational train line will operate twice a month.

Launched by companies in China's Inner Mongolia, Mongolia, the Republic of Belarus, Russia and Germany, the transnational train line exports electronic products, home appliances, textile and rare earth minerals from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and takes in raw material for electronic products and home appliances from the Europe as imports.

With the new train line, transport expenses and a longer time on the journey as well the cost will be greatly reduced.
