China welcomes Citibank to expand cooperation with banking sector

China welcomes US-based Citibank to strengthen cooperation with Chinese commercial banks and promote the reform of the country's financial sector, said Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju Friday.

Huang made the remark at a meeting with Chairman of the Board of Citibank William Rhodes in Zhongnanhai.

Their conversation focused on Chinese financial reform. Huang said China is committed to continuing its reform in financial sector.

After his arrival in Beijing on Feb. 27, Rhodes met with Chinese banking regulators and officials, talking about further expanding Citibank's operation in China.
