A notorious hacker hacked the House of Representatives' website of the Philippine Congress on Feb. 27 and was not repaired until Friday night, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported Saturday on its online site.

The website congress.gov.ph. was hacked was defaced by Batistuta, a notorious hacker known for engaging in mass defacements of websites around the world, according to zone-h, an online repository of web defacements.

Batistuta managed to deface the guest book section of the Congress website, zone-h said.

The Philippine Congress was using a Linux-based system running the widely used Apache web server.

Internet security expert Wilson Chua of Bitstop Inc. said he suspects that the hacker exploited a "PHP" vulnerability on the site.
