US deploys B-2 bombers in Guam
font size

The United States has deployed B-2 Spirit bombers at the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, to support the Pacific Command's security efforts in the Western Pacific, the Air Force said in a press release on Saturday.

The B-2 bombers were from the 393rd Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, the 509th Bomb Wing, which was based at the Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, currently the only B-2 unit in the Air Force.

Along with the B-2 bombers, which are distinguished from other bombers and fighters by their stealth capabilities and high aerodynamic efficiency, over 270 airmen of the 393rd Expeditionary Bomb Squadron were deployed at the Andersen Air Force Base.

The 393rd Expeditionary Bomb Squadron was the first B-2 squadron to deploy in Guam to support the Pacific Command's continuous bomber presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Previously, the Air Force has deployed three B-52 Stratofortress squadrons at the Andersen Air Force in Guam.
