font size

Five injured tourists are out of critical condition after falling into a river from an overturned floating bridge in Lin'an City in E. China's Zhejiang Province, the local government said.

Five others were killed in the accident.

The accident occurred at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at a scenic spot in the famous West Zhejiang Canyon. All 88 people on the 244-meter-long bridge fell into the river. Most were rescued.

The overturning may have been caused by some tourists swinging it, according to the witnesses.

All the visitors are from neighboring Jiangsu Province. The five dead are from the province's Jintan.
