Palestinian militants fired a homemade mortar shell at a Jewish settlement in the southern Gaza Strip early Wednesday, Israel Radio reported.
The homemade mortar shell was fired from an area under the control of Palestinian security forces at the Jewish settlement of Gadid, north of the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, said the report citing Israeli army sources.
The sources said that the mortar shell landed at an empty area in the settlement but caused no harm or injuries.
No Palestinian organization claimed responsibility for the attack. Palestinian security sources said they did not hear about any report of firing mortar shells at the settlement.
Meanwhile, Hamas called on Wednesday the Palestinian National Authority to halt all kinds of security meetings with Israel, accusing the latter of not responding to the Palestinians' demand and refusing to stop aggression.
Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz met Tuesday evening at the Erez crossing on the Gaza-Israel border.
The two agreed that Israel would soon pull out from Tulkarm and Jericho in the West Bank.
