Thai PM officially endorsed to head new government

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's re-election as the head of the new Thai government was officially endorsed by the King in a Royal command on Wednesday.

Thaksin received the Royal command confirming his re-election as the country's 23rd prime minister for the second term at the Government House here this evening in a ceremony attended by his family and his Thai Rak Thai (TRT) Party's MPs.

Thaksin was re-elected as Thailand's next prime minister with the majority vote of 377:1 and 116 abstentions during the second sitting of the new House of Representatives this morning.
