font size

French President Jacques Chirac has signed a decree, setting May 29 as the date for France's referendum on the European Union Constitution, CRIENGLISH.com reports Thursday.

Political parties in the country have announced their stances on ratifying the constitution and have started campaigning for votes.

The leaders of EU member nations signed the Constitution last October. It must be ratified by all 25 member states before it is adopted.
