GDP of national development zones increase by 30%

According to the latest statistics released by Ministry of Commerce, 49 national economic and technological development zones and five industrial zones that enjoy national policy for national development zones have registered Domestic Gross Product (GDP) worth of 660.144 yuan in 2004, a year-on-year increase of 32.43 percent.

Statistics shows that various economic indexes of national development zones maintained rapid growth in 2004 and the industrial added value stood at 485.562 billion yuan, up 34.8 percent from the year before or 23.3 percent higher than the national level; the gross industrial value (current value) totaled 1,794.911 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 38.53 percent; tax revenue collected topped 93.304 billion yuan, 23.31 percent higher than that in 2003; export value yielded 80.304 billion US dollars, up 64.29 percent from the year before or 28.89 percent higher than the national level; import value recorded 85.904 billion US dollar, a year-on-year increase of 65.24 percent or 28.89 percent higher than the national level; paid-in foreign capital reached 13.607 billion US dollars, up 31.74 percent from the year before or 18.42 percent higher than the national level.
