Members of China's top advisory body Thursday voiced their full endorsement for the Anti-Secession Law the national legislature is making, says a political resolution adopted at the closing meeting of the annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The resolution says it has been agreed during the annual session that maintaining national sovereignty and territorial integrity is in line with the core interests of the Chinese nation.

"The formulation of the Anti-Secession Law manifests our persistent stand to seek peaceful reunification of the motherland with the utmost sincerity and greatest efforts, and embodies the common aspiration and firm determination of all the Chinese people to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and never to allow 'Taiwan Independence' secessionist forces to secede Taiwan from China in any name or by any means," says the resolution.

The enactment of the Anti-Secession Law is conducive to uniting all the Chinese people, the 23 million Taiwan compatriots included, to push forward the reunification of the motherland, checking the secessionist activities of "Taiwan Independence" forces, and maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits as well as the Asia-Pacific Region at large.

According to the resolution, all CPPCC participating parties, organization and members are called on to unite the broad masses of patriotic personnel both at home and abroad, resolutely oppose and check the secessionist activities in the name of "Taiwan Independence" and make positive contributions to pushing ahead the peaceful and stable development of cross-Straits relations and promoting the complete reunification of the motherland.

The resolution stresses that it is of vital importance to maintain prosperity and stability in the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao. It is crucial to not only the future of the two regions, but also the great cause of China's modernization and reunification.

"We will unswervingly implement the principles of 'one country, two systems,' 'Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong,' 'Macao people governing Macao,' and a high degree of autonomy, unite ourselves with the broad masses of patriotic personnel who love the motherland and Hong Kong and Macao, support the regional governments in administration according to law, and play an active role in maintaining and promoting prosperity, stability and sustained development of Hong Kong and Macao," it says.
