The United States and Australia separately warned their citizens not to go to downtown Jakarta in recent days due to threat of terrorist attack, local media Kompas reported Saturday.
The threat is related to possible bomb attacks on March 11 to 14 in the shopping mall of World Trade Center in downtown Jakarta,the Kompas Cyber Media quoted officials from the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US Embassy in Indonesia as saying.
"On March 11, we were aware of a bomb threat against the World Trade Center Mangga Dua, Jakarta," the Australian official said, adding that "We warn Australians to avoid the areas surrounding this complex."
The US Embassy in Indonesia also warned of a possible bomb attack at the World Trade Center on March 11 to 14, which might target US citizens.
Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, has suffered several terrorist attacks targeting at Westerners in the past years. They were blamed on the militant network of Jamaah Islamiyah, which reportedly linked with the al-Qaeda and aimed to establish an independent Muslim state in Southeast Asia.
