German FM postpones Middle East visitGerman Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer has postponed his visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories to Monday, the German news agency DPA reported on Saturday. Fischer was scheduled to arrive in Ramallah on Sunday evening to meet Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas before heading to Tel Aviv to meet Israeli Vice Prime Minster Shimon Perez and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom. The Foreign Office gave no reason for the postponement, but said Fischer would embark on his Middle East tour on Monday, the DPA said. He will attend opening ceremonies on Tuesday for a holocaust museum in Jerusalem, which will also attract a number of world dignitaries.
