Death toll in US hotel shooting rises to 8

A man shot seven people to death before killing himself during a church service at a hotel in the north-central US state of Wisconsin Saturday, authorities said.

Four people and the gunman were found dead at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield west of Milwaukee, in the southeast of the state, and three other people died later at a hospital, local police said.

Four other people remained hospitalized in serious condition.

All the victims were in the same room at the hotel, and the suspect was affiliated with a church that had been meeting at the hotel regularly for the past few years, news reports said.

The incident was under investigation.
