font size

The "Bulletin on the Greening State of Chinese Territory in 2004" published by the Office of the National Afforestation Committee shows that in 2004 the afforested area reached 108 million mu (15 mu=one hectare) whose quality was improved as a whole, remarkable results were achieved in tackling the ecological environment, the ecological situation turned for the better in local areas.

The result of the sixth check-up on national forest reserves shows that the aggregate of national forest resources continues to grow, forest quality somewhat improves, the structure of forest species tends to become rational. On the whole, the situation of China's ecological construction is at the crucial stage of a "stalemate between improvement and destruction"
