Retail sales of consuming products in China up 13.6 pct in first two months

Retail sales of consuming productsin China jumped 13.6 percent year-on-year to more than 1.03 trillion yuan in the first two months this year, said a report released by the National Bureau of Statistic on Monday.

In January, retail sales in the country rose 11.5 percent and in February, the figure surged 15.8 percent, said the report, explaining that the fluctuation of the figures in the two months was due to the week-long Spring Festival that started on February 9.

From January to February, consuming product retail sales in urban areas grew 14.4 percent to 861.9 billion yuan while those inthe rural areas rose 11.9 percent to 342.7 billion yuan.

The report made a detailed list on the sales growth of various products, including telecommunication equipment, building materials and cars, which witnessed rise of 19.3 percent, 28.7 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively. (1 US dollar = 8.27 yuan)
