Cambodian Chinese firmly support Anti-Secession LawThe Society of Chinese Peace and Unity of Cambodia on Tuesday expressed firm support for the Anti-Secession Law adopted by China's National People's Congress on Monday. A statement signed by the society's President Duong Chhiv said that the anti-secession law set a legal framework to prevent Taiwan's secession from China and to promote peaceful national reunification. "We, Cambodian Chinese and overseas Chinese in Cambodia, fully support the law," it said. "We believe that the law will promote the relations across the Strait moving toward a peaceful reunification, and it will also smash the attempt by the 'Taiwan independence' forces to split China." Yum Sui Sang, chairman of the Chinese Hong Kong & Macau Expatriate & Business Association of Cambodia, and Jimmy Gao, chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, also said that the passage of the anti-secession law showed the determination of China to safeguard the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as to achieve the national reunification. "China's sovereignty and territorial integrity must not be infringed," they said. "The law not only demonstrated the fundamental interests of the entire Chinese people but also the common will of the overseas Chinese worldwide." |
