An agreement of cooperation was signed recently between Beijing Guotou Energy Conservation Company and Beijing Zige Investment & Development Co,.Ltd to build two wind energy plants in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and north China's Hebei Province respectively.
Manjing Wind Farm, with an average annual wind speed reaching 7.9 meters per second at the height of 65 meters, is of rich and high-quality wind resource. Located only 220 kilometers away from Beijing, it is very suitable for construction of a million-kilowatt-scale wind energy plant. Its first-stage project is planned on the scope of 45 mega-watt with 30 sets of generators, each of 1,500 kilowatt capacity. The other, Tuoli Wind Farm is located in Dabancheng, an area rich in wind resource in Xinjiang, with a total installation capacity of 100 mega watt, including 30 mega watt for the first stage which will be kicked off this year.
China is among world top ranks regarding its exploitable wind resource. By now there have set up more than 40 wind farms nationwide, but only with a total installation capacity about 760,000 kilowatt, or 0.2 percent of the nation's total installation capacity.
