Further standardization of PLA calls for cutting 200,000 troops before 2005
font size

The year 2005 is an important year for the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) to fulfill its task of "cutting 200,000 troops before 2005", PLA Daily editorial said on March 17.

A rectification campaign will be launched against various temporary or unauthorized army units, according to a notice issued by the PLA General Staff Headquarters and approved by the Central Military Commission (CMC). This is an important organizational move taken to further standardize our army, which is of realistic significance for deepening military reforms in a Chinese way and enhancing the army's combat readiness, the article said.
