More that 200 American businessmen representatives and 300-odd representatives of Guangdong small & medium-sized companies gathered during the annual meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) for the Asia-Pacific region have reached a common understanding on Thursday. Small and medium-sized companies have become the main targets of American businessmen wanting to invest in Guangdong.

There are more than 700,000 companies in Guangdong, 90 percent of which are small and medium-sized. They generate 70 percent Guangdong's industrial added value and 70 percent of tax revenue and provided above 90 percent of the employment posts.

The 200-odd American businessmen expressed their optimism for the outlook of investment in China. President of Eastern American said he had invested in building Guangzhou American Industrial Parks at Guangzhou Huadu. Companies like Fengshen Automobile, Coca Cola and Aeolus have moved into the parks. "I am confident of the market in Guangdong and plan to double the investment."

On the occasion of the AmCham Asia-Pacific annual meeting in Guangzhou, Guangdong province held an investment and trade promotion meeting on Thursday to demonstrate to the AmCham representatives the excellent investment environment and great potentials of Guangdong. It also signed an Economic and Trade Cooperation Memorandum with the American representatives to further explore the trade partnership between the US and Guangdong.

AmCham Asia-Pacific is one of the largest chamber of commerce associations, representing over 34,000 American investors in the Asia-Pacific region. Its member companies account for over $400 billion trade volume and more than $200 billion direct investment.

Guangdong is the most developed province in China in terms of foreign trade and economy, with complete infrastructure and strong capability in terms of supporting industries. It has a large market capacity and apparent geographic advantages. Guangdong has established trade relations with more than 200 countries and regions. Above 100 countries and regions have come to invest Guangdong and 166 of the top 500 multinationals have set up 492 companies in Guangdong.
