Some 7,000 tons of light construction materials provided by China for the post-tsunami reconstruction in Indonesia reached Belawan seaport of Median, the capital city of North Sumatra province early Sunday.
The construction materials in 535 containers with a total value of some 30 million renminbi yuan (about 3.75 million US dollars) are provided for building 60 light-structure schools and related toilets as well as other installations in the tsunami-hit areas in Indonesia's Aceh and North Sumatra provinces.
The Belawang port authority started unloading work soon as the Chinese ship arrived at the port. The United Nations-sponsored convoy would later take charge in transporting these construction materials from Belawang to Banda Aceh, the capital city of Aceh province and other tsunami-hit areas.
