Iraq war protest staged in Hollywood

Some 2,000 people took to the street in Hollywood on Saturday to make the second anniversary of the start of US-led invasion of Iraq.

No arrests were reported in the anti-war demonstration as of late afternoon local time, according to a spokeswoman of Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.

The spokeswoman said everything was peaceful and the turnout was "substantially reduced" from the size of previous anti-war demonstrations in Hollywood.

The march took place under overcast skies, with a chance of rain through the afternoon.

In New York, demonstrators reportedly carried flag-draped cardboard coffins to protest the continuing military occupation in Iraq.
