Moroccan film wins Mar del Plata award

Franco-Moroccan film "The Great Trip" Saturday was laureated as the best film in the last day of the International Mar del Plata Film Festival in Argentina.

The film, directed by Moroccan Ismael Ferroukhi, obtained the Astor de Oro award in the festival held from March 10 to 20 in Mar del Plata, 400 kilometers south of Buenos Aires.

Nearly 300 films were exhibited in various movie theaters of the city as part of the festival.

This film is about the pilgrimage of a young Frenchman of Moroccan ascent and his father to Mecca, the most sacred place of Islam.

During the pilgrimage the two characters come to better understanding of each other after overcoming a difficult relationship.

Leading actor of the film, Moroccan Mohamed Majd, also received the Astor de Plata award for best actor.
