font size

Iraq is recalling its ambassador to Jordan in a revenge move after Jordan withdrew its top diplomat,a foreign ministry official said Sunday.

"We will recall our ambassador from Amman for consultations,"the official said on condition of anonymity, adding the relations between the two countries were in tensions.

The official did not specify when its ambassador would return.Earlier Sunday, Jordan said it was recalling its envoy in Baghdad for consultations over safety concern, after hundreds of Iraqis demonstrated before the Jordanian embassy in the past week in protest against a suspected Jordanian in the bloody suicide bomb attack on Feb. 28, which killed 120 people in Hilla.
