The 11th Meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee for Coordination Among Developing Countries of the Group of 77 (G-77) starts here on Monday.

According to the program, the opening session consists of a high-level dialogue and a plenary session to address issues related to ways and measures to increase the South-South cooperation.

Then, the delegates will meet in two working groups to analyze the application and follow-up of the Action Program and the agreements of the First Summit of the South held here in 2000, as well as the projects and cooperation issues to be talked about at the current meeting.

The meeting, to conclude on March 23, is expected to arrive at a consensus prior to the 2nd Summit of the South, scheduled for June 12-16, at Doha, Qatar.

Created in 1964, the G-77 chaired by Jamaica at present comprises 132 developing countries, the largest group of its kind in the United Nations.
