US marine killed in western Iraq's Anbar
font size

A US marine was killed in action on Monday in Iraq's western province of Anbar, the US military said on Tuesday.

"A Marine assigned to I Marine Expeditionary Force was killed in action March 21, while conducting security and stability operations in the Al Anbar province," the military said in a statement.

The military gave no further details, fearing that the release of more details about the incident could place the US personnel at greater risk.

Over 1,510 US servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003.
