Xing huina, who claimed the women's 10,000km race title for China at the Athens Olympics, will run in the first edition of Wuhan International Marathon next month in Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei, China.

Organizers said Wednesday that Xing will compete in the 21.0975km half marathon road relay against strong contestants from Germany, Japan and Kenya.

The first-ever Wuhan International Marathon will open in the second ten days of April.

Organizers said that this year's competition includes half marothon and 6km mini marathon races. Over 1,000 Wuhan citizens who go in for long-distance running will participate in the competition besides professional athletes, and the total awards will amount to 100,000 Yuan (about 12,000 US dollars).

The slogan of Wuhan International Marathon is peace, nature, health, and green marathon.
