One person was killed and 25 others, including three soldiers, were wounded Wednesday when a massive blast rocked a power utility in the summer capital of India-controlled Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, Indo-Asian News Service reported.
Local police said a man was instantly killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted near the wall of an electric grid station in the Hyderpora area along the Srinagar-Uri national highway went off.
A police officer blamed the blast on separatist militants who set off the explosives when an Indian Army van with a captain and two soldiers was passing by.
Most victims were employees of the electricity department and were hit by flying shrapnel. The explosion shattered windows.
