font size

A man who died Tuesday in capital hospital was suspected to have died of bird flu, the health official said on Thursday.

If it was confirmed, the man who was from southwest Cambodia's Kampot province, would be the country's second one died from the disease.

Preliminary results showed that he had infected with bird flu, the official said. The samples have already been sent to test. The Health Ministry will give more information later.

It was said that the victim's home is 20 km away from the first bird flu victim, who died in January. The dead man was also a home chicken raiser, and more than 50 of his chickens died in the last 10 days.

Officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) will go to the area to investigate.
